Aleksey Popov

Candidate of Sciences in History, Associate Professor of Russian History at the V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University, Associated Research Fellow at the project “Soviet Cultural Diplomacy during the Cold War, 1949–1989” (South Ural State University, Chelyabinsk). His research interests include history of tourism in the Russian Empire and the USSR, international relations and cultural diplomacy of the Cold War era, and everyday and social history of the USSR. He is the author of over 100 publications, including monograph Russo Turisto: the Soviet Outbound Tourism in 1955–1991 (Moscow: HSE Publishing House, 2016) and articles in such journals as Ab Imperio, Cahiers du Monde Russe, Soviet and Post-Soviet Review, New Literary Observer, Forum for Anthropology and Culture.
