Mikhail Weisskopf. Dance with the skull: Afanasy Fet`s ballad motives as literary representation of traumatic experience

A.A.Fet’s childhood and youth were associated with agonizing, painful impressions which traces he retained for the rest of his life and which became the narrative basis for his early works. Furthermore, the echo of this traumatic experience can be traced in all his successive lyric poetry, where it interacted in non-trivial ways with religious (or antireligious) and philosophical views of the poet.
