Russia in memoirs

In Russia today, the most popular memoirs are still tales of the secret liaisons of tsars, terrible stories of Soviet villains and scandalous details from the lives of pop stars. The series Russia in Memoirs aims to present a different image of the country, based on stories from everyday lives of people from various social backgrounds, with different ethnic origins and occupations: the nobility, peasants, entrepreneurs, politicians, intellectuals and secret police agents. In this series we give priority to previously unpublished texts and memoirs, which have appeared in periodicals only. The reader will also find a number of memoirs, which have already appeared in print and have long since become bibliographical rarities.
